Net loss is typically deposits minus withdrawals minus current balance over the period, or stakes minus winnings. The terms specify which. The difference matters: under a deposits-based method, a withdrawal during the week reduces your cashback; under a stakes-based method it does not.

Cash or bonus?
The single most important line in cashback terms: is the refund paid as real money or as bonus money? Real-money cashback can be withdrawn straight away. Bonus-money cashback carries wagering — usually a low multiplier, but wagering all the same, with game contribution rules. A small cash refund is often worth more than a larger refund with strings attached.
Cashback and the live casino
Because cashback looks back at losses rather than forward at wagering, it often includes live dealer games where welcome bonuses do not.
