Bonus terms and conditions: the rules behind every offer
Every offer comes with specific conditions, but most operators also publish general bonus rules that apply to all promotions. These bonus terms and conditions cover things like the max bet while a bonus is active, which games are restricted, how bonus money and real money interact, and what counts as bonus abuse. Max bet with bonus, explained
The max bet exists to stop players using large stakes on volatile games to clear wagering quickly. It usually applies per spin or per hand and sometimes to bonus buys as well. One stake over the limit can be enough for the operator to remove the bonus and winnings. Autoplay and "double up" features can breach it without you noticing, so check them.
Restricted games and the live casino
Restricted game lists commonly include some high-RTP slots, jackpot games and many table and live games. Even where live tables are allowed, specific bets — such as covering most of the roulette table, or betting both sides in baccarat — are often defined as irregular play. If live tables are your main game, the practical rule is simple: play them with real money, not with bonus funds.
What counts as bonus abuse
- Multiple accounts, or accounts for other people in your household.
- Low-risk betting patterns designed to clear wagering, such as opposite bets.
- Switching to high stakes after a win to exploit the bonus balance.
- Using offers from a country the promotion excludes.
The consequences range from bonus removal to account closure, and the operator's decision is set out in its terms.
Sticky versus cashable
A cashable bonus becomes real money once wagering is complete. A sticky bonus is removed at withdrawal — only the winnings above it can be paid out. The difference can be large on small balances. The general terms should say which type applies by default.
